Selling Process
A licensing agreement will be signed between the parties typically involves:
Option 1:
This is a fee a company pays to have the item for exclusive review. They pay, and the inventor promises not to show it to anyone else for the specified period of time. Option payments can range from hundreds to thousand of dollars per month.
Option 2:
These are payments advanced against future royalties. Usually paid upon signing a Licensing Agreement, this up-front money that the company gets to deduct from royalties due later. Generally figured as 25% of the estimated total first year royalties, advances run from a few thousands to tens thousands of dollars.
Option 3:
Royalty is the big one. Exception can rent its products to another company that pays for the use of the idea. There is almost no limit royalties. Sometimes no more than a few hundreds thousands dollars over the advance, sometimes millions upon millions.
Option 4:
Franchise is the right that the patent owner gives to another particular person to produce and sell these products.
