WHOLEfield LearningTM

Offering A Master of Arts in Learning, the only so named degree in the United States, WHOLEfield LearningTM is presented by Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. This two-year program focuses on developing ideas about the nature of learning and the interaction between the self and the culture as this interaction is a function of language perception, values, and information. The program serves the interests of creative people seeking a better understanding of their productivity and their relationship to the outside world; teachers dedicated to a deep understanding of self and their students, and those citizens who wish to obtain a deeper matrix upon which to pursue their own evolution. Within the formal structure of 12 courses, there are a wide variety of presenters from many fields including art, music, science, history, literature, and what one might call post-modern thought. There is an extensive personal participation in workshops, seminars and mentorships. The program meets for 6 weekends (from September through May - Friday late afternoon through Saturday early evening), and during three weeks of full time study in July. The two-week mentorship may be scheduled at the participants' convenience but must be completed by the end of the first year.

Our Governing Beliefs

* Creativity, critical thought and dedication to cause are the primary motivators of appropriate change within educational organizations. Therefore, the Collaborative members are an open and accepting community dedicated to the evolution of schools are other learning environments including universities and businesses.
* It is only through the acceptance of general ideas and evolving understanding that specific new learning environments can be created. Therefore, the Collaborative community entertains ideas without criticism, but with critical and constructive involvement with all participants.
* Participants who enroll in graduate programs are accepted as colleagues rather than seen as students. Therefore, the evolution of all programs is dependent upon soliciting and valuing statements of participants needs as well as their insights into the characteristics of a changing post modern world.
* All programs that must develop both as academically and intellectually worthy works, must be offered in reasonable and attractive time frames and must be achievable in all ways including economically.
* All learners who are credentialed at the graduate level are welcome in all programs - without regard to race, creed, color, religion, areas of professional expertise, political affiliation, or purpose for undertaking the study.
